Jack Cust knocked in Steven Pearce in the top of the first inning with a single to center field for the SWB Yankees first run of the 2012 season.

Delin Betances pitched five strong innings only giving up four hits and two runs on the night. Betances also had six strikeouts and one walk.

After a Kevin Frandsen throwing error in the third inning on a Jack Cust grounder the SWB Yankees held a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning  Andres Blanco hit an rbi sacrifice fly line drive to Cole Garner for the Ironpigs first run of the game and a 3-1 Yankees advantage.

Former Williamsport Crosscutter Austin Hyatt started the game for Lehigh Valley.

Hyatt was 12-6 last year for AA Reading with a 3.85 era.

Another former Williamsport Crosscutter player Cody Overbeck had a big two run double in the 6th inning off SWB Yankees relief pitcher Pat Venditte. The Ironpigs went onto win 6-5.

John Suomi had a solo homerun in the 7th inning for Lehigh Valley.

Overbeck hit .285 with AA Reading last year and had 18 home runs. He added 6 more home runs for AAA Lehigh Valley. The Phillies have Overbeck playing a little first and third base at Lehigh Valley for Manager Ryne  Sandberg.

The Ironpigs are now 2-0 on the season with their 6-5 victory over the (0-2) SWB Yankees.
