Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a 14-year-old boy Thursday night.

Police said a call came in around 7:20 p.m. saying a teenager was shot on Hill Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Officials arrived on scene and took the boy to the hospital where he died a short time later.

“It’s devastating when you get a call hearing that a 14-year-old was just shot, so that’s why we’re paying particular attention to this. We’re going to see and follow through with any leads we possibly have,” said Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis.

Police said to be on the lookout for a burgundy, older model Ford Taurus with two people in it. That vehicle was seen leaving the scene. Police believe one of the people in the vehicle may be the shooter. Police described him as a black thin male who’s 5’10” with a light beard wearing a black hoodie. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
