Man Accused of Brutally Assaulting Former Girlfriend

A man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and brutally assaulting his former girlfriend.

The attack happened around 9 p.m. Saturday in a quiet neighborhood in Duryea.

Police are not identifying the victim. They only said that she is a 44-year-old from Pittston.

The attack happened inside a home on Raspberry Road.

Police said the victim went there to get her belongings.

Officers said that is when the suspect, Mark Graziosi of Duryea, dragged the victim inside, restrained her with handcuffs and hit her with a small shovel.

The victim told police Graziosi also choked her, and threated to kill and rape her.

Eventually the victim was able to convince Graziosi to release her.

She went to police, who arrested Graziosi.

He is locked up in the Luzerne County Jail, charged with kidnapping, assault and other counts.
