24 AAA wrestlers from across the WNEP market are making their way down the Hershey to compete in the 2012 PIAA State Wrestling Championships.
Kenny Yanovich from Pleasant Valley kicks things off at 106lbs. on Thursday at 4pm during the AAA preliminary matches.
Sean Bianco another Pleasant Valley wrestler goes for win #41 on the year against Derek Gulotta from Owen J. Roberts.
At 126lbs Blue Mountain's Corey Keener a returning state champion faces Fred Alderman from Garnet Valley. Keener is (43-1) on the year.
In the 126lb bracket two other wrestlers-Michael Dahlstrom (42-5) from Pleasant Valley and Delaware Valley's CJ Palmer (37-3).
At 145lbs Pocono Mountain East wrestler Raymond Nicosia goes for his 32nd win of the year, while Crestwood's Kyle Hankinson faces Dario Dobbin from Canon-McMillan.
The most interest at the state meet might be in the 160lb bracket. Mark Granahan from Scranton high school could meet Brian Brill from Central Mountain in the semifinals. Brill is undefeated this year and a returning state champ.
Delaware Valley senior Marc Wagner wrestles at 170lbs with a (43-6) record as does Mitch Myers from Blue Mountain (42-7).
Hazleton's Chad Hoffman goes at 195lbs with his (34-4) record.
At 285lbs Wilkes-Barre Coughlin's Brad Emerick looks to remain undefeated with his (39-0) record on the year.
