Police Plan Arrest In Scranton Slashing

A woman was wounded by a knife in Lackawanna County.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Quincy Avenue in Scranton.

According to police, Sasha Velez was walking along the 800 block when she was attacked by a man and woman involved in a fight.

Police say a man involved in the brawl slashed the victim’s arms, face, and scalp with a knife.

Another man fired shots into the air.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Scranton police tell Newswatch 16 they expect to make arrests sometime Thursday.
