    DICKSON CITY — Another day and another drop in gas prices. It’s a welcome trend for many consumers this holiday season. Triple A said the price has dropped nearly two cents since Tuesday, bringing the national average to about $2.52 for a gallon of regular. It’s still a little more expensive around NEPA.     Speed Believed to be a Factor in Deadly Crash

    POCONO TOWNSHIP — One man is dead after a late night crash in Monroe County. Police said Kenneth Kehler, 35, of Albrightsville, died after he lost control and hit a tree off of Golden Slipper Road in Pocono Township, near Bartonsville, just after 10 p.m. Monday. Authorities believe speed was a factor in the deadly crash.

    UPDATE: Water Main Break Affects Homes

    UPDATE: Officials with Limestone Water System said they have fixed a water main break in one part of Lycoming County. The company is asking customers in the Oval and Oriole area to conserve water over the next 24 hours. About 250 homes were affected by the break. Only five homes are on a boil advisory.     Township Employee Accused of Stealing Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

    LACKAWAXEN TOWNSHIP — A former township secretary in Pike County is accused of stealing money from a municipality. State Police said Shawn Roe was arrested on Wednesday and charged with stealing more than $200,000 from Lackawaxen Township’s general fund over a ten year period, starting in 2003. Roe was taken to the Pike County Jail on $25,000 bail, according to officials. State Police at Blooming Grove ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call them at: (570)226-5718.

    Erratic Driver Runs From Police, Arrested

    TAYLOR — A man faces a long list of charges after an incident in Lackawanna County. Police told Newswatch 16 that David Kelley, 26, of Old Forge was driving erratically in Taylor early Saturday morning, and when they tried to pull him over, he jumped out of his car and ran away. Authorities said they found Kelley in a drainage ditch near the Scranton line. Police said Kelley is facing a number of violations, including suspected DUI.

    Attempted Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrests

    MOUNT POCONO — Arrests were made in connection with a shooting at a bar in Monroe County. Newswatch 16 first reported about the shoot-out at Copa Bar and Grille in Mount Pocono that seriously hurt two people in 2012. Mount Pocono Regional Police arrested Gregory Cousar, 41, of White Haven; Ronnie Washington, 26, and Kerey Cousar, 29, both of Tobyhanna, and charged them with criminal conspiracy to commit homicide.     Icy Conditions Blamed for SUV Rollover

    OLYPHANT — An SUV ended up on its roof on a highway in Lackawanna County Tuesday morning. Officials said icy conditions are likely to blame for the rollover near Exit 2 on the Casey Highway in Olyphant around 6 a.m. Emergency crews had to remove the driver from the SUV, but his injuries appear to be minor.

    Lackawanna County Contractor Pleads Guilty

    SCRANTON — A contractor accused of cheating homeowners has pleaded guilty in Lackawanna County Court. According to the District Attorney’s Office, Joseph Senese of Taylor pleaded guilty to fraud and theft charges on Wednesday. Senese was arrested in July, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from at least 22 customers by taking money for home improvement work that he never did. Senese could get up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.

Officials said the boil advisory is a precautionary measure in the borough of Benton because of an abnormal coloration in the water.     DUNMORE — The scene of a deadly house explosion and fire is still busy more than nine hours after emergency responders were called and an evacuation began.     Factory Fire Sends Two to Hospital

    SIMPSON — A chemical fire at a factory in Lackawanna County sent two people to the hospital. Authorities said the fire started just before 6 a.m. at Gentex Corporation in Simpson in a chemical mixing room at the business, injuring one person and shaking up another. There is no word on the extent of the person’s injury. Officials said Gentex Corporation is expected to be open Tuesday.
