    The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed a case of measles that could have exposed others to possible infection. Health officials said the potential exposures could have occurred at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg and Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.     Homicide Suspect Captured In NYC

    SHENANDOAH — Luis Ramos was arrested in New York City 6 p.m.Wednesday with the help of  US Marshals, NYPD and State Police. Ramos is the main suspect in the homicide of Wendy Contreras. She was found dead inside her home in Shenandoah on West Centre Street Tuesday afternoon. Arrangements are being made to bring him back to Pennsylvania to face charges.

    14 People Forced Out by Flames

    SCRANTON — 14 people need new places to live after flames ripped through an apartment building Tuesday night in Scranton. The flames started in the 1800 block of North Main Avenue just before 11 p.m. This is one several buildings in the Providence section that was recently sold at auction.     Police: Man Flown to Hospital After Teen Fired Shots

    FAIRMOUNT TOWNSHIP — Shots fired in a home in Luzerne County Monday night ended with a man in the hospital. The shots rang out on Mossville Road near Ricketts Glen State Park around 9:30 p.m. Officers said David Wheeler, 32, was arguing with a 16-year-old boy before the teen pulled the trigger. The man had to be flown to the hospital. Police have yet to say if any charges will be filed.

    Six Dogs Die in Fire

    MAHONING TOWNSHIP — Six dogs are dead after a house fire in Carbon County. Flames broke out around 8:00 Thursday evening at the house on Spruce Street in Mahoning Township, just outside Lehighton. Three people lived in the home, but no one was home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Traffic was detoured in the area for several hours as firefighters battled the blaze.

    Body of Woman Missing Five Months Identified

    RANSOM TOWNSHIP — Investigators have identified the body of a woman found dead in a pond in Lackawanna County. Police say the body of Diane Zavislak, 56, of Truckville in Luzerne County was found over the weekend in a pond in Ransom Township near Clarks Summit. Zavislak had been missing since last November. An autopsy could not reveal how she died or how long she had been dead.

    Bags of Decapitated Birds Found Near Church Entrance

    BRODHEADSVILLE — State police in Monroe County are investigating a gruesome discovery at a church. State troopers said, last week, someone at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville found three bags of decapitated birds near the church’s entrance. Authorities believe the birds were put there sometime between last Wednesday and Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at Fernridge at 570-646-2271.

    Investigation Continues into Schuylkill County Woman’s Death

    BETHEL TOWNSHIP —  State Police on Tuesday released surveillance photos of a man who they are trying to locate in connection with the investigation into the death of a woman from Schuylkill County. Over the weekend, the body of Alishia Eller, 24, of Pine Grove, was found at an excavation storage site in Bethel Township in Berks County.     Bridge Replacement Project Underway in Schuylkill County

    PORT CARBON — A much needed bridge replacement project is now underway in Schuylkill County. The mayor of Port Carbon told Newswatch 16,  the Pottsville Street bridge is now closed to traffic as PennDOT begins its 1.8 million dollar project to replace the 90-year old bridge. The mayor said a detour is set up around the bridge. Work is expected to last through October.

    HANOVER TOWNSHIP — A man is in custody after a police chase in Luzerne County. The chase started Friday night in Kingston, went through Wilkes-Barre, and ended in a shopping plaza by the Burger King in Hanover Township near Wilkes-Barre. At least one Kingston police cruiser was damaged in the chase.     PITTSTON — Kingston police arrested a man who they say is responsible for robbing the Honesdale National Bank in Kingston on Thursday. Kenneth Delicati Jr., 34, of Kingston, was charged with robbery and theft Friday night at a district magistrate’s office in Pittston.
