    DELAWARE TOWNSHIP — State police released surveillance pictures Saturday of the man they say robbed a bank in Northumberland County Friday night. Investigators said it happened just before 5 p.m. at the Muncy Bank and Trust in Dewart, Delaware Township. State troopers said a man showed a weapon to a bank teller and demanded cash.   • Multiple Homes on Fire in Nanticoke

    NANTICOKE – A fast-moving fire has spread to several homes in Nanticoke. The fire started just before 10 p.m. on South Hanover Street. According to the Luzerne County 911 supervisor, the fire has spread to two homes and may have spread to a third building. Massive flames can be seen shooting through the roof. Firefighters continue to try and get the flames under control.   ¬†

  • Police Chase Ends in Crash in Wilkes-Barre

    WILKES-BARRE – A police chase through the city of Wilkes-Barre led to a three car crash late Friday afternoon. Luzerne County 911 dispatchers say police were chasing one vehicle. That led to a 3 car crash at the busy intersection of West Market and River Streets, right near the Market Street Bridge. At least two people were rushed to the hospital.   • WATCH: Deer Dashes Through Hotel Lobby

    CENTRE COUNTY — The Days Inn Hotel in State College had an unexpected guest Friday morning. Surveillance video shows a male white-tail deer getting in through the automatic doors and slipping and sliding its way through the lobby around 3:40 Friday morning. Pennsylvania Game Commission officers were called in to try and tranquilize the buck, but the animal was put down. No people in the hotel were hurt in Centre County.

    COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP — One person is dead after a crash in Monroe County Wednesday night. Police told Newswatch 16, one person died when an SUV crashed on Route 196 around 9 p.m. Wednesday near A Pocono Country Place, a residential community. Police said Deandre Ewin, 36, of Tobyhanna lost control while rounding a curve and hit several trees. Ewin died at scene. Police believe speed and wet conditions contributed to crash.     GILBERT — A small plane crashed into a field in Monroe County Thursday evening.. Officials told Newswatch 16 the pilot managed to walk away. Officials say the single engine plane was traveling from Beltzville Airport and was heading to Pegasus Airport in Brodheadsville when the aircraft lost power.   • Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Abusing Child

    CARBONDALE — Police in Carbondale arrested a man who they say sexually abused a young girl. Officers tell us it came to light when the girl’s mother came across incredibly disturbing online messages between Thomas Diehl, 29, of Carbondale and the eleven-year-old girl. Diehl faces multiple charges, including sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, indecent assault and various other charges related to filming sex acts with a computer.   • Stabbing Investigation In Lackawanna County

    TAYLOR — Authorities spent Thursday evening searching for a man who they believe stabbed his girlfriend in the chest. It happened around 9 p.m. in a parking lot along South Main Street in Taylor, just at the bottom of the hill from Davis Street. Officers say they are looking for a man named Barry Lewis, 34, of Taylor. He is still on the loose. The victim was taken to a hospital after the stabbing in Lackawanna County.

  • Storm Damage in Central PA

    JERSEY SHORE — In Lycoming County, the winds ripped a tree from its roots and onto a house along Burke Street in Jersey Shore. The storm also peeled shingles from roofs. Newswatch 16 also found damage in residents’ yards. A tree toppled onto a pool and knocked over several fences. There were no reports of any injuries from the storm here in Lycoming County.

  • Six People including Children Taken to Hospital after Deck Collapse

    PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP — Authorities said six people which included young children, were taken to the hospital after a deck collapsed during a party outside of a home in Carbon County. It happened in Penn Forest Township on Towamensing Trail just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. When the deck collapsed, it flipped over and trapped several people underneath it. Four people were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital by helicopter and two more people were taken by ambulance.      

  • Woman Killed in Crash in Bradford County

    FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — A woman is dead after a crash in Bradford County Thursday afternoon. It happened around 12:30pm on SR 414 in Franklin Township, just west of Towanda. State Police said Hila Strope, 46, of Towanda died at the scene. Authorities believe Strope lost control of her vehicle and collided into a truck.
