    Taylor Walmart Evacuated

    TAYLOR — A store in Lackawanna County was evacuated Monday night. Newswatch 16 was told a suspicious package was found outside the Walmart in Taylor around 9 p.m. Customers and employees were ordered to leave the store. The Scranton Police Department’s Hazardous Devices Team responded to the evacuation in Lackawanna County. Investigators cleared the scene by 12:40 a.m. Tuesday. There is no word from authorities on any possible charges.

    Man Faces Slew of Child Porn Charges

    MONROE COUNTY — A man in Monroe County faces multiple charges of child porn. Officials arrested Nathan Sauers, 33, Canadensis is accused of sharing child pornography from his Barrett Township home. Investigators monitored Sauers’ activity after a computer at his home was discovered sharing a large amount of child porn on a file sharing network. Sauers remains locked up in the Monroe County jail.

    Man Arrested for Drugs After Traffic Stop

    STROUD TOWNSHIP — A Monroe County man is in jail after he was found with three types of drugs. Police say Evan Watkins, 24, Stroud Township was pulled over Sunday afternoon in Blue Mountain Lake Estates. During the stop, police found heroin, cocaine and “crack” cocaine. Watkins remains locked up in Monroe County.

    Vacant Home Catches Fire

    MOUNT CARBON — Fire officials in Schuylkill County don’t know what sparked an early morning fire at a vacant home. Crews arrived just after 3:00 a.m Tuesday at a home on Center Street in Mount Carbon near Pottsville. The fire chief tells us the house was vacant, and that the cause of the fire was undetermined. A fire marshal is expected at the scene later Tuesday in Schuylkill County.

    Chopper Removed A Week After Crash

    NOXEN — The wreckage of a deadly helicopter crash in Wyoming County has been recovered. This is a picture of what is left of the chopper that went down near Noxen last Saturday night. It took crews hours to move the wreckage by aircraft and load it onto a trailer yesterday. The helicopter crashed near a wind farm, killing all five people on board. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the crash in Wyoming County.

    Man Locked Up On Child Porn Charges

    ORWIGSBURG — A man from Schuylkill County is behind bars facing child porn charges. Tyler Kennedy of Orwigsburg was arrested last week by the Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit. He is charged with having and sharing pictures of child pornography on the internet. Kennedy remains locked up in Schuylkill County.

    PLUNKETTS CREEK TOWNSHIP — They turned back time in Lycoming County today and fired up some antique machines. This is the 26th year for the Loyalsock Valley Antique Machinery Association show.     HONESDALE — People in Wayne County were invited to feel what it was like behind bars more than 150 years ago. Today the County historical society opened up the old stone jail in Honesdale.   • Muddy Mess Raises Money

    LLEWELLYN — Some muddy fun was enjoyed on Sunday in Schuylkill County. Hundreds of ATV and dirt bike riders gathered outside Pottsville for the third annual ATV run to benefit the Llewellyn Good Intent Hose Company Number One. Riders from as far away as Missouri and Florida came to take part in the trail ride, which began at eight this morning.
