PENNSYLVANIA -- People with a criminal past are getting a second chance in Pennsylvania.

The new law went into effect Wednesday. It allows some criminal records to be sealed.

It's for people convicted of minor crimes who've stayed out of trouble for at least a decade.

Violent crimes, sexual offenses, and animal cruelty charges do not apply.

GovernorWolf signed the Clean Slate Act in June.
