SCRANTON, Pa. -- Scranton police now say a fire at an empty house in the city over the weekend was a case of arson, and they are asking for help identifying a person of interest.

The fire destroyed a vacant home on Palm Street just after midnight Sunday. No one was hurt.

"It's close. You come out the window. You hear the sirens. You see it happening, you know? It kind of puts it in perspective of how scary it can be,” said Jim Cook.

Scranton police detectives just released surveillance video on Facebook from a nearby business, showing a person of interest in the case.

"That makes me feel better because if they have video of someone, they're more likely to catch that person. Since it's our neighborhood, I’d like to get them caught,” said Tina Cook of Scranton.

"We work hard for what we have, and we'd like to keep it. And we have children, and I'd like to keep my kids safe,” she added.

The city's south side has seen several intentionally set fires in recent months, which has many on edge.

"It's scary because you never know if it's going to be your house, be next,” said Gina Rink of Scranton.

If you recognize the person in the video, you're asked to call Scranton police.
