CARB DROWNING

PARRYVILLE, Pa. -- Police are investigating after a body was found in a creek in Carbon County.

The coroner's office and state police were called to the area of Parryville Sunday night after someone called in to report a possible drowning.

Troopers then found a body under the turnpike bridge.

State police are trying to find out how the body ended up in the Pohopoco Creek near Weissport.

The coroner's office tells Newswatch 16 based on the condition of the body, they believe it has been here since February.

Investigators have not said if the body was that of a man or woman, and no name has been released.

State police and the county coroner are not saying whether they believe the death is suspicious. All they will say is that this is an ongoing investigation.

The coroner's office has an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday to determine how the person died.
