UPDATE: According to state police, a teenager has been charged with criminal homicide. The teen is accused of stabbing a woman inside of her home.

The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Sandra Lee Montanari of Weston.

Police say Eric Montanari, 17, was charged as an adult. Neighbors told Newswatch 16 he is the victim’s grandson.

Another man was hurt after police say he tried to fend off the stabbing attack by the teenager.

Original Story:

BLACK CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police in Luzerne County are investigating a death at a home near Conyngham.

Troopers tell Newswatch 16 they were called to a home on Market Street in Black Creek Township around 7 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said a fight between family members resulted in a stabbing.

One woman was found dead and two men are now being questioned by police.

Neighbors tell us they are the victim's son and grandson.

State police are still trying to figure out what led to a family fight in Black Creek Township that left a 66-year-old woman dead.

No names have been released, but two men were taken in for questioning one 43 years old, the other, 17.

"Usually, you know, kids are spoiled rotten by grandma, but teenagers nowadays, they don't have the respect they used to have for anybody," said neighbor Debbie Hower.

After the stabbing, state police say those two men were taken to the hospital because they were also hurt. The two of them were questioned and Newswatch 16 saw the 43-year-old leave the state police barracks on his own, but officials say the 17-year-old is still in the hospital.

Neighbors say that the teenage grandson was living with his grandmother at the time of the stabbing.

"Too many grandparents raising kids. There's just too much," Hower added.

Dan Tolotti, owner of The Beverage Nest in Black Creek Township, says this is a quiet place to be. He also knew the victim and her family, saying they were friendly people.

"Just very shocking because you never really know what happens behind closed doors and never would expect this out of a small town," Tolotti said.

The coroner says there's an autopsy scheduled on the victim Saturday.

There is no word on charges and no names have been released.
