COAL TOWNSHIP -- A teenager is under arrest after a deadly shooting in Northumberland County.

The coroner was called after gunfire on in the 900 block of West Pine Street near Shamokin around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Just shy of his 18th birthday, Sabian Ebersole of Coal Township has been charged with criminal homicide.

The teenager who is in cyber school has been accused of shooting and killing David Rivera, 21, along West Pine Street in Coal Township, near Shamokin.

Police say it was all over a drug deal.

"It's been going on for a long time with these kids doing this. It's just a shame," Robin Dorkoski said.

According to police, Ebersole was tagging along with a friend who planned to sell Rivera and his girlfriend marijuana. When the girlfriend handed over an envelope, the dealer expected there to be cash inside. Instead, they found just a few torn up pieces of paper inside the envelope. That's when, according to court papers, a fight broke out and Rivera was shot.

Nearly every day, Robin Dorkoski walks her dog Bubba. The night of the shooting, she tells us she passed Ebersole on the road and later heard something out of the ordinary.

"I heard screaming, arguing, and I don't want to go back down to get involved in it, so I just kept walking up," Dorkoski said.

Newswatch 16 spoke with friends of the victim. They weren't able to go on camera but say Rivera leaves behind a young daughter.

Ebersole is in a juvenile detention center on $1 million bail.
