DUPONT -- A standoff ended with a man taken to the hospital in Luzerne County.

Police were called to Lackawanna Avenue in Dupont around 4 p.m. Sunday for a domestic dispute.

Officers said a woman was assaulted and called the police.

According to police, Ruben Basura, 32, locked himself inside the home with a gun and his children.

Police said he eventually came out of the house but refused to get on the ground. Officers shocked him with a stun gun, and he was taken to the hospital.

"He was given orders to get down. He wouldn't take the orders, so subsequently he was tased. And right now, he's on his way to the hospital to get one of the probes taken out of him. So we have a domestic with a weapon. There were two young children in the house. The children weren't hurt, and he'll be facing charges tonight," said Dupont Police Chief Richard Janesko.

Basora was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of children. He's locked up in the Luzerne County jail on $75,000 bail.

Police say the children will be staying with a relative.
