DALLAS  -- Officials in the Dallas School District say teachers will go back to work on Tuesday.

Teachers hit the picket lines September 22 after failing to reach a contract agreement with the school board. The strike is the second in two years. Even though they have announced they'll be back in the classroom Tuesday, there is still a chance they may go back on strike.

The sticking points continue to be wages and health care. A representative from the teachers union said the teachers are going back to school because a consultant hired by the union has presented the district with information on ways they can save money on health care.

Newswatch 16 spoke with parents who are happy about the fact their children will be going back to school tomorrow.

"With the strike it has been quite interesting, since I have a full-time job, trying to find (my child) daycare," Terri Gavlick of Dallas said. "It's been a crazy schedule. We're both super excited to get back into the swing of things and have our daily routine back."

No agreement has been reached, and teachers have given a second strike date of November 22 if a deal is not reached by then.
