Magic Mike you are totaly wrong with your choice to ride against traffic. I suggest you reference the PA vehicle code where it specifies that bicycles on roadways shall follow the same laws as motor vehicles. However pedestrians are to walk against traffic if there is not a sidewalk. I figured you would have known this information being you are a person that appears to be a know it all. Apparently not. It is annoying bike riders such as yourself that deserve a ticket from the police.

Most people run and bike with the flow of traffic, but you can’t see the cars coming up behind you, that’s why I ride against the traffic so I can see what’s coming at me and move out of the way if I have to.

Honestly, ~4000 lb chunk of metal vs ~160 lb Human being, if you’re going to jog across roads, just stop and wait for the car to go by. Even if you have the right of way, just wait for the car to come to a complete stop, live to fight another day. No one even stops for pedestrians at the fancy crosswalks with the flashing lights, what makes you think they’ll stop at any other crosswalk.

It’s pa. Pedestrians HAVE THE RIGHT A WAY! Brush up on some basic state laws hillbillies! People in philly manage not to run people over daily and they walk out in the road at any time.

  • Park walker

I was in the park walking around at the time. Usually you know what parks are for….According to the i witnesses it happened at the pedrestrian crossway. And the driver was speeding excessively. Im pretty sure thats only a 35 zone. Comments on here are ruthless without knowing facts. Sad world we live in..

It is sad. The driver could be doing 100 mph, high, drunk and texting, and the jogger will still be blamed. I wonder if they say the same thing if an elderly person in a crosswalk gets hit.

Apparently the pedestrian was speeding excessively ( jogging) and ” park walker just has her radar gun handy to make a stupid assumption ” a fact” . Sorry 35 mph vs. jogger should be a 50 ft. bounce at least if they’re stupid enough to run into the road . Can’t help stupid !

“My road” is only in “your mind”. Unless the road is PRIVATE on YOUR PROPERTY, it is not “YOUR ROAD”.

Most runners and cyclists drive motor vehicles too and pay taxes just like you do. The public roads are just that – public. not your property. The use of them by motorists. cyclists and pedestrians is regulated by law – so obey those laws.

If the light was green the car has the right of way… Possibly she was walking against the “do not walk” sign. If that’s the case the crash is the joggers fault.

There’s absolutely no information available in the actual article, but according to the comments below the jogger is 1,000% guilty. It’s terrifying to think these same ignorant people share the roads with us.

Maybe they don’t have a car and can’t get to the nearest park 10 miles away? This may be a surprise to you, but unlike most Americans some actually want to exercise and not sit in front of the TV for 5 hours after work every day. Oh I forgot, your car “OWNS” the road. You paid 100% of its costs, never mind.
