CLIFFORD TOWNSHIP -- A fire that damaged a mobile home in Susquehanna County is considered suspicious, according to state police.

The fire started around 3:30 a.m. Monday on White Drive outside Forest City and spread to another trailer.

No one was living in the home where the fire started.

Neighbors tell Newswatch 16 it's not the first time there's been trouble at the home, but they sure hope it's the last.

The scorched shell of a mobile home is all that's left of the place inside the White Mobile Home Park near Clifford.

Two state police fire marshals are now investigating the cause and consider the flames suspicious.

Neighbor Thomas Little jumped into action getting another neighbor next door to the fire out of harm's way.

"Once I got him out of there, next thing I know, the fuel tank blew up and saw flames shoot across the sky. That's why I wanted to get him out of there," Little said.

The intense heat melted siding off the neighbor's mobile home as well.

"It sucks. It's no good," said neighbor Kenneth Woodenschek. "(I'm) trying right now to get an electrician so I can stay in the place because they melted the electrical box and the wires."

Woodenschek is insured. He's been concerned about the couple who lived here and suspected them of having drug problems.

The mobile home park's owner gave the couple until midnight to move out and neighbors saw them before the fire started.

"We know nobody was in there because they were moving stuff out," said Little.

"The timing is odd, to say the least. The landlords were nice and worked with him but he refused to cooperate," added Woodenschek.

A state police fire marshal is investigating.
