WILKES-BARRE -- The parking lot may have been empty, but early Sunday morning, police were looking for any clues that might help them catch whoever opened fire outside Passion Lounge in Wilkes-Barre.

The nightclub's owner tells Newswatch 16 gunshots were heard outside the nightclub and a car was seen leaving the scene.

One person was shot. There is no word how badly he or she was hurt, or if they were taken to the hospital.

Tanfastic Tan Center sits a few doors down from the nightclub.

Workers say they were surprised to see all the flashing lights on their block.

“It’s a little worrisome coming in so early in the morning and seeing cop cars it's a little scary,” said Samantha Collins of Tanfastic Tan Center.

This isn't the first time there's been a shooting at passion lounge. Back in January of last year, a man was badly hurt during a shooting outside the business.

Wilkes-Barre's Mayor told Newswatch 16 he was considering closing down the lounge under the Nuisance Bar law. After the latest violence, residents say they are on edge.

“Yeah it's very scary because with all these places getting robbed like Turkey Hill and places getting robbed it's a little scary,” said Rahiem Chapin of Wilkes-Barre.

Neighbors feel nightclubs that stay open later than most bars are bringing unwanted attention to Wilkes-Barre.

“You have to be aware of your surrounding you have to be cautious, like which way to go because there's people out at three in the morning and you at the bars and you don`t know somebody could have a gun on them. You just don't know it's scary,” said Chapin.

In a statement to Newswatch 16 Passion Lounge owner says, "We cannot control what happens outside our nightclub. We follow the correct procedures for all incidents and will continue to do so in the future."

Police have not released any information on the victim or if they have any suspects.
