SCRANTON -- Students at an elementary school in Scranton threw a birthday celebration in honor of the school's namesake.

John F. Kennedy Elementary School celebrated the former president's 100th birthday on Friday.

Teachers say they incorporated the president into their lesson plans this week, and recognized him Friday by wearing red, white, and blue.

JFK would have turned 100 years old this past Monday.
