COVINGTON TOWNSHIP – A deadly crash closed a stretch of highway in Lackawanna County Wednesday afternoon.
The wreck happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Interstate 380 northbound near mile marker 16. Investigators said the driver lost control after drifting off the side of the highway.
State police say a passenger, Rosemery Sanchez-Rosa, 22, from Bronx, New York, was thrown from the vehicle and died.
Troopers say a 2-month-old child was improperly secured in a car seat but only had minor injuries.
The driver, Angel Jimenez, 23, of Scranton, was not hurt, according to police.
Traffic was stopped in the northbound lanes near the crash. The highway is now reopened.
