INTERSTATE 80 --For hours traffic on Interstate 80 Westbound in New Jersey near the Pennsylvania border was at a standstill.

New Jersey State Police say a crash just before 2 p.m. left two troopers injured with “non-life threatening injuries.”

“We’re trying to get to Kalahari with the girls. We got them early from school, trying to make it to Kalahari for a trip for them. And now we’ve been here for an hour and 45 minutes,” said Whitney Jacobus of New Jersey.

In this long line of traffic sat plenty of travelers from the Keystone State.

Some, who got an early warning about the crash, tried to avoid I-80 altogether by taking back roads.

“I got off early enough to try to navigate around it but now I don’t know these back roads, I’m trying to find a way around it through the back roads,” said John O’Brien of East Stroudsburg.

Chuck DeRoche’s son was trying to get home to Pennsylvania.

He called his father frustrated after sitting for more than 3 hours.

“In front of him, a guy fell asleep and ahead of him there was no traffic and they had to go around him, they were blowing their horns,” said DeRoche.

State police in New Jersey continue to investigate the crash.
