FAIRMOUNT TOWNSHIP -- A man is facing homicide charges after a deadly shooting in his home in Luzerne County.
Officials say Brock Earnest, 40, from Montandon, was shot and killed at a home on Old Tioga Turnpike near Benton around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to troopers, Keith Williams, 40, pulled the trigger. He's locked up in Luzerne County.
Court papers indicate that a woman called police around 10:30 p.m., saying her boyfriend shot another man in the stomach with a shotgun.
When police arrived, they say Keith Williams was standing outside of the home in Fairmount Township with his hands in the air, admitting to the crime.
Neighbors are shaken.
"You don't hear much of that in this area. It's pretty quiet and pretty good people around this area," said neighbor Joe Zawatski.
Troopers identify the victim as Brock Earnest, 40, of Montandon. They say he and Williams were friends.
Court papers show the two had been drinking. When they started fighting, it escalated, and then Williams grabbed his gun and fired.
According to court papers, Williams told police he thought Earnest was hitting on his girlfriend.
Neighbors say it's an unfortunate tragedy.
"It's troublesome. You're in a quiet area and something like this happens," Zawatski said.
