DURYEA -- Two police officers in Luzerne County were honored with national recognition.
Charles Swisher and George Brazdzionis are with the Duryea Police Department. Both men were given American Police Hall of Fame awards for life saving Tuesday night.
The two performed CPR on a man who suffered a drug overdose in Duryea.
The police chief says the only other time he's seen this award given to someone from our area was in Scranton many years ago.
"I'm very proud of them. I'm very proud of all our officers, but on this date, I'm particularly proud of Officers Brazdzionis and Swisher for their actions that day and the actions that they provide to this community on a daily basis," said Duryea Police Chief Nick Lohman.
A community member read an article about the life-saving act in the newspaper and nominated the officers for the honor.
