MOOSIC -- First responders in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre received some life-giving gifts Wednesday morning.
Geisinger Community Medical Center, Pennsylvania Ambulance, and Trans-Med Ambulance donated 40 automated external defibrillators (AED) to the city's fire and police departments.
The portable AEDs, which cost $1,500 each, can be used to treat heart attack victims.
After training, officers and emergency services expect the defibrillators to be ready for use within the next week.
