FOREST CITY, N.C. -- A North Carolina mother says the local Santa Claus made her 9-year-old son cry, telling the child he needed to lay off hamburgers and fries, according to WLOS.

It all happened on Saturday when the family went to visit Santa in Forest City. Anthony Mayse, 9, asked for an iPod Touch and a drone for Christmas when he was allegedly fat-shamed.

"When he got done, he said, 'Lay off the hamburgers and french fries," Mayse told WLOS. "And that really just disrespected me, and I felt awful."

"It affected me so bad that I was crying until I went to bed that night," Anthony said. "And I want to say to him, 'You don't want to disrespect a 9-year-old. Even though what shape and size you are, it doesn't matter."

According to WLOS, Santa later apologized to the family.

Cruel would be to continue letting this 9 year old continue to believe that being fat is normal. He is fat and speaking from experience, he better damn well attack this problem now!

Hahahahahaha I haven’t stopped laughing yet, 9 year old believes in Santa hahah gee mum get the boy up to speed poor kid. I suppose he believe in God and the Easter bunny as well. Good on you Santa and mum you are an embarrassment. You kid is a porky lad and its all down hill from here unless you get him of the take outs now..

If you’re fat and unhappy with it, fix it. If you’re fat and content, then keep being fat. People just have to learn to ignore shitty people instead of whining about them. Just ignore the hate and do what makes you happy, as long as you aren’t hurting anyone else but yourself.

The child was being investigate by mall police for stealing hams. Santa was able to confirm it was just a fat kid.

Maybe teach him how to handle being called fat instead of sheltering behind a wall of bullshit. What’s going to happen when his mother isn’t holding his hand? This is why kids kill themselves and blame bullying. Bullying is shitty and bad, but not teaching your kid how to handle a bully is a lot worse.

I wish someone made fun of your weight as a kid so you could know how it feels. I bet you would not have made such a rude comment. You are making fun of people being coddled. You lack something called empathy

      • Okay?

Kate maybe YOU should have gotten a little shame treatment growing up. Maybe then you would understand, and not come to some forum sticking up for such an unhealthy individual.

Even if you agree that he should lose weight, that is between him, his parents and his doctor to adress, not a store-paid Santa!

Christmas is about joy and happiness, especially for kids.

If anyone should be shamed, it should be the parents. They are the ones that set examples and buys his food!!

    • Okay?

The problem is these people do NOT address these issues. Even WHEN they are educated. Laziness can be fought with well deserved shame.

You know why we have all of this shame nonsense? Because of all the nasty judgmental snarky people like you below who are all bashing a NINE yr old CHILD. You, collectively, have NO RIGHT to judge another person for any reason. Somehow, ALL of you, have missed the point. Whether the kid is fat, green with purple polka dots etc, none of you have the right to judge for any reason, especially for something as shallow and baseless as looks. Nor do you get the right to judge his parents. Furthermore, Santa didn’t do his job! Period! Santa isn’t supposed to make kids cry, any kid! What is he going to do with a special needs child or disabled child? Pick on them too? Oh, it’s a big person that makes fun of a child. And how ironic that Santa, who is FAT, is telling a kid about his weight? Really? Have you all lost your collective minds?

It’s beyond ridiculous with all of this “Shaming” nonsense in the 21st Century. If all of these so-called “Shame” victims were really ashamed, they would NOT have their faces plastered all over the news and the internet. They just want to whine and complain.
