SHAMOKIN -- A man turned himself in just hours after he says he robbed a convenience store in Northumberland County.
According to police, Shaun Bannon, 32, of Shamokin put a gallon of tea on the counter of Penn Jersey Food Mart on North Shamokin Street in Shamokin around 7:45 p.m. Monday. When the clerk opened the register, Bannon allegedly reached over and grabbed about $440 from the drawer.
He later told officers he spent the money on heroin, pills, cigarettes, food, and to repay a debt.
Bannon is locked up on robbery, theft, and other charges.
