COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP -- Some winter essentials are being scattered throughout certain parts of Monroe County.
Need a scarf or a hat? Just grab one and go!
It's all part of a donation project put on by a group called the "Coolbaugh Angels."
"I am not lost. If you need me, I'm yours! Enjoy! Keep Warm!"
It's what's written on the notes connected to hats, gloves, and scarves.
You can spot the winter wear on trees and metal posts throughout Monroe County. It's all part of an effort to keep those in need warm this winter.
"It's a good feeling. It's paying it forward," said Betty Kruk, Coolbaugh Angels member.
Betty Kruk is one of four women who call themselves the "Coolbaugh Angels." These women hung hand-knit items throughout different parts of Tobyhanna and Mount Pocono.
"It's great. I mean it doesn't take very much time for us, you know, but it is a good feeling," said Kruk.
This is the second year the group got together to leave these creations behind. Nearly 100 pieces for children, men and women were put up this year. Each item is free to those who need a little extra to stay warm.
"We just tied them where we see people walking. Bus stops are a good location and that's how it all started," said Kruk.
Community members have been so grateful for all that the group is doing, some even donated yarn so the group can make more winter gear.
"I think it's great, especially in the winter. I think it should be all the time," said Suzanne Gevase, Canadensis.
Gevase runs a similar event at her church. She enjoys seeing other communities giving back.
"I think it's great. I think, you know at this time of the year but it really shouldn't be just this time of the year, it should be all year long," said Gevase.
About 90 percent of the winter items that were put out have already been taken, but more will come soon.
The group expects to hang another batch throughout Tobyhanna and Mount Pocono come February.
