SCRANTON -- Thursday marks the annual World AIDS Day, observed by the World Health Organization every year since 1988.

This year was the first time The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton held its own observation.

The college’s student group, Physicians Representing Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equality, or PRIDE, teamed up with the NEPA Rainbow Alliance to plan the free, public event.

The NEPA AIDS Quilt was on display, honoring those who lost their battle with HIV/AIDS.
