WILKES-BARRE -- Watching football on Thanksgiving is a tradition for many families. For a group of people in Wilkes-Barre, turkey day is all about playing football.
“It's tradition, we live for this, we got friends and family, it's just a good time,” said one of the players at Kirby Park.
“Just getting out here, playing a little ball with friends, seeing a lot of friend we haven't seen in a long time, it's like a tradition. I've been doing it for at least 17 years, maybe even longer,” said Anthony Mercadante if Wilkes-Barre. Mercadante and his brothers tell us it's a game many of their family and friends look forward to, which started with a dozen guys on the field and continues to grow each year.
“Trying to relive our childhood, I guess you can say, as we keep getting up their in age, we jut keep trying to go back in our years and think we can still do this!” said his brother, Gino.
“This is the 26th year now, and we've gone a far as our friend and my friends and their sons playing now,” said Vincent Mercadante.
