LEWISBURG -- While a lot of people spent the day grabbing last minute items at the grocery store, the wine and spirits stores were just as crowded.
All throughout the day, there was a steady stream of people at the Fine Wine and Spirits store in Lewisburg. The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest of the year.
"I was fortunate to get it at a good time where I'm not waiting for 20 minutes or so," said Michael Sutt of Lockport, New York.
Sutt was driving through Lewisburg and stopped by the liquor store on his way to Maryland.
"Picking up some thank-you presents for Thanksgiving and so on."
Dee Turpack of Lewisburg got a bottle of wine to take to her mother's for Thanksgiving.
"It's fun because we get together with our family, break open a bottle of wine or two, eat and be merry," said Turpack.
"I got a variety of different kinds of whites and reds," said Carl Romanski of Riverside. "I got some champagne for the holidays. We're going to visit friends tomorrow, so I got two special bottles for her."
While you're enjoying your alcohol, police officers want to remind you to drink responsibly because they will be out and about.
Chief Paul Yost of the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department, near Lewisburg, says extra officers will be out over the holiday weekend.
"We're going to be monitoring and watching for violations," said the chief. "People are home from college, hooking up with their friends. We just want them to be conscious of their consumption of alcohol and the laws of the state."
Chief Yost reminds people not to drink and drive and to stay safe this Thanksgiving.
