WAYNE COUNTY -- Authorities are looking for a woman accused of lying about how many people lived with her to collect extra county assistance money.

An arrest warrant is out in Wayne County for Tawana Dees, 42, originally from Bushkill in Pike County. She's accused of collecting more than $70,000 in assistance she was not entitled to.

The Wayne County district attorney says Dees lied about how many people were in her household and their total income while participating in the Wayne County Housing Authority's Choice Housing and Voucher Program.

The program is designed to help eligible families with rental expenses.

Investigators claim Dees failed to report that there were numerous other people living with her.

The Wayne County Housing Authority said Dees received $72,102 in rental assistance and utility allowances, which she was not entitled to.

Wayne County detectives believe Dees may now be living out of the state.

Anyone with information on where Dees may be is asked to call Wayne County Detective Michael McMorrow at 570-253-4912.
