MAHONING TOWNSHIP -- There was a steady stream of voters at polling places in central Pennsylvania on this Election Day.

At a polling place near Danville, there was consistently a 45-minute wait.

The line of voters stretched around the room at Trinity Methodist Church in Mahoning Township, near Danville. When voters walked inside, they were told it was a 45-minute wait to cast their ballots.

"I'm prepared to stand in line," Billie Ingraham. "It's my right as an American to vote for who I want."

"I never waited before to vote. This is the first time ever I stood in line like that," said Mae Spicher.

Spicher is 93 years old and has voted every year since she was 18. She tells Newswatch 16 this is an important election for her to vote in because it is special.

"I don't remember an election where the choices were so bad as they are this year," said Spicher.

Others were excited about the choices.

"We wanted our vote to count and it's the first time in history a woman's running, so that's important to me," said Amishi Khara.

The Kharas did not want to miss their chance to vote.

"We came at 9 (a.m.). The line was long and we thought it would slow down, so we came back and the line was longer."

Officials in Montour County expect voter turnout to be one of the highest they've ever seen. The county's solicitor expects it to be around 60 to 70 percent.

"Our last couple presidential elections have not been this busy," said poll worker Brad Bason. "This is historic."

People who have voted at Trinity Methodist Church for many years also realize this election is historic.

"It's been big but only twice have I had to stand in line for a long time," said Ingraham.
