WILKES-BARRE -- Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in Luzerne County Thursday on Public Square at King's College, hungry for its grand opening in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

“I'm super excited because I'm from New Jersey and there's Chick-fil-A everywhere so I'm excited for it to be here,” said one student.

“I'm on Cloud 9 right now, I'm so completely happy Chick-fil-A finally came to King's, I'm loving every second of it!” said another student.

Chick-fil-A has developed a huge following for its original sandwiches, which are simply chicken and two pickles in a bun.

Some people were craving those sandwiches and waffle fries so badly, they waited in line for nearly a half hour just to order lunch.

“It's a long line, very busy, but mostly because we don't have one of these here, so it's a big deal,” said one person.

The new Chick-fil-A created 30 full-time jobs and is expected to add 20 more.

Eric Shotto is a manager and said, “Having these employees come in, they're doing wonderful, and I couldn't be prouder!"

There is another Chick-fil-A expected to open in Luzerne County next week at Misericordia University.
