MOUNT CARMEL -- Firefighters from two counties were called to a two-alarm fire along 3rd Street in Mount Carmel.

The Wells Fargo bank went up in flames around 5 a.m. on Saturday. The Mount Carmel Fire Chief believes the cause of the blaze is accidental.

Pat Crotty of Mount Carmel said the blaze was concerning for many locals.

"Everything ... it was falling down, the wood, it was disintegrating quickly," she said.

A state police fire marshal is currently looking into whether it was connected to work that was being done on the roof just a few days prior.

Many people in Mount Carmel depend on the bank. There was a list posted on the door of the nearest Wells Fargo branches.

"I was sort of concerned because I have to take money out of the bank to pay rent but the ATM works fine," said Stephanie Pollack of Ashland.

The fire in Mount Carmel is still under investigation.
