WILKES-BARRE -- Some young children in Luzerne County got to check out some strangely cool chemical reactions and ghoulish experiments just in time for Halloween.

King's College Chemistry Club led the presentation called “Things That Go Boom in the Night” inside the college's Burke Auditorium Wednesday night.

Students and faculty put on more than a dozen experiments including chemical color reactions, slime making, and freezing objects with liquid nitrogen.

The show even wrapped up with a flaming pumpkin finale.

"There is a lot of prep, but just seeing the kids' reactions to all the different, cool experiments, I mean, they love when things explode and when things go boom. So that's really what the show is all about," said junior Nicole Dilillo.

The event coincided with National Chemistry Week and marked the 20th year for the presentation at King's College.
