LEWIS TOWNSHIP -- This week's floods have done the most damage in our area since the historic flooding in September of 2011.
For Vickie Murray of Bodines in Lycoming County, this week's flooding brought back memories of the event five years ago. The couple's home was badly damaged in 2011. Thousands of others evacuated their homes.
On Friday, Vickie and her husband spent the morning in the Trout Run Fire Department's banquet hall.
Vickie says after midnight, her home was surrounded by a foot of water. She grabbed her medication, her dog Peanut, and other belongings, while her husband drove them to safety.
“We were completely flooded out in 2011 and scared to death. I didn’t know what was going to happen, and I didn’t want to be stuck there,” Vickie Murray said.
This time, when the Lycoming Creek near Bodines crested, the couple's home was spared.
