In just over a week, kids will be all decked out in their costumes and trick or treating.

It's probably no surprise, Halloween is one of the worst nights for pedestrian injuries and deaths.

AAA put out recommendations to make trick or treating safer.

The motor club says children should avoid wearing masks while going home to home and wear something that glows in the dark.

Drivers should slow down, stay sober and avoid short cuts through neighborhoods.

"It is a dangerous holiday for pedestrians, for kids, but it's also a really high holiday for drinking and driving. So, we want to make sure that the pedestrians are seen but also that drivers slow down," said Andreaa Higdon, AAA's Traffic Safety Community Educator of the Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education.

According to statistics,  kids are four times more likely to get hit by a car on Halloween.
