SCRANTON -- No one bid on two buildings up for sheriff sale in downtown Scranton, so a bank will take ownership of them.

The Samters building on Penn Avenue and Oppenheim building on Lackawanna Avenue went into foreclosure last month.

A realtor representing a potential buyer said he thinks the Samters building has a lot of potential, but he said the starting bid was too high.

"I sort of thought there would be a couple of different people who were in the local downtown scene developing apartments would come and buy that building," said Bob Feibus of Scranton.

NBT Bank now takes ownership of both buildings.
