SCRANTON -- The Central Scranton Expressway reopened Sunday morning, 24 hours ahead of schedule.
The main route from Interstate 81 to downtown Scranton was shut down Friday night so crews could begin installing beams for the new Harrison Avenue Bridge, which passes over the expressway.
The expressway wasn't scheduled to reopen until Monday morning, but PennDOT said the work was completed ahead of schedule and the road is back open.
PennDOT said another set of beams is expected to be installed next month.
