Update 10/16/16: The Central Scranton Expressway reopened Sunday morning, 24 hours earlier than expected. PennDOT said the work was completed ahead of schedule.
SCRANTON -- The Central Scranton Expressway--the main route from Interstate 81 into downtown Scranton--is closed for the weekend.
Crews have begun setting the beams for the new Harrison Avenue Bridge and are expected to spend the next few days putting them in place.
Signs on the interstate direct drivers onto the detour along Moosic Street.
The expressway is scheduled to re-open Monday morning.
