PECKVILLE -- The Columbus Day Association of Lackawanna County hosted its annual dinner Sunday night ahead of the holiday on Monday.

The dinner held at Fiorelli's in Peckville is the association's biggest event.

Money raised benefits the St. Francis of Assisi soup kitchen in Scranton.

The annual dinner, in its 108th year, is held every eve before the Columbus Day holiday and starts off the association's celebration of the holiday.

"It’s just an Italian event, and tomorrow we'll hang the wreath on Christopher Columbus," said Edward Cammerota, past president.

The wreath-laying ceremony takes place at Courthouse Square Monday morning.

The association honored Dominic Keating as its 2016 “Man of the Year,” a Lackawanna County native who serves the community.
