FACTORYVILLE -- Volunteers pitched in to help renovate a special building at Keystone College in Wyoming County on Saturday.

Keystone College's Center for Veterans recently received a special grant for renovations including interior remodeling, improved fixtures, new flooring, and handicapped accessibility.

Volunteers with Home Depot helped complete some of the work.

The center is meant to be a comfortable and convenient meeting place for student veterans as a thank you for their service and sacrifice.

"Veterans are not a typical college student. A veteran has real-world life experiences that they've gone through, whether it’s been over in Iraq or Afghanistan or even back home here after," said Mark Gowarty, veterans club adviser.

The volunteers also plan to come out again Sunday to help with renovations to the veterans center.
