SUNBURY -- As the Shikellamy Braves battled the Jersey Shore Bulldogs on the gridiron, Christian Courtney was there, as a special team co-captain for the Braves.

"It's a dream come true for him, honestly, it really is,” said his mom, Lynn Courtney of Sunbury.

Christian Courtney was born with physical disabilities.

He attends a special school in the Sunbury area and his teachers and members of the Shikellamy football team decided to make this happen: let Christian be a team co-captain at the Friday night homecoming game.

"They came up with the entire idea, put it together for much credit to the kids for showing their passion and compassion for Christian," said Jess Harry, Christian’s teacher.

Christian is a huge sports fan; he especially loves football and attends lots of Shikellamy games.

Being a co-captain of the team was an honor.

"I really appreciate it. Thank you!" he said.

Christian Courtney says he'd love to be a sports broadcaster one day, that is, when he's done helping the Shikellamy Braves win games.
