DUNMORE -- Volunteers helped create an outdoor recreation area for people with disabilities Thursday in Lackawanna County.

The new area at St. Joseph's Center was already being put to use as it was dedicated Thursday afternoon.

That came after more than 100 volunteers from Wells Fargo helped to landscape and fix up the area outside the facility in Dunmore.

The area will serve as a therapeutic and recreation area for many different people served by St. Joseph's.

"It really means chance to get out and experience the outdoors, and to do it in a way that is close to support. So, if they need restroom, medicine or assistance, they're not far from any of that," said Sister Mary Alice.

Students from Marywood University and the University of Scranton also joined other volunteers to construct the outdoor area in Lackawanna County.
