SCRANTON -- A nurse who worked at a hospital in Scranton is facing charges for allegedly stealing pain medication from patients in her care.

That nurse started working at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton in February. Hospital officials say she is no longer an employee.

Investigators say over the summer she stole pain medication that was supposed to go to seven different patients.

Rachael Glahn, 36, of Tunkhannock, was charged with theft and felony drug charges Wednesday. She was released on $100,000 bail.

According to court papers, Glahn admitted to stealing morphine, Percocet, and other pain killers that were meant was patients

The theft was discovered when a patient complained about not getting medication. A hospital investigation found that Glahn did not give pain meds to seven different patients and instead kept the drugs for herself.

Glahn did not explain whether she used the drugs herself but told hospital officials she stole them because of her child support payments.

Rachael Glahn is expected back in Lackawanna County court later this month.
