SCRANTON -- A military family got a surprise Thursday in Scranton.

Eckrich and Gerrity's gave service member James Rosencrans and his family $1,000 in free groceries.

The presentation was made Thursday morning at the grocery store on Meadow Avenue.

It's part of Eckrich's national campaign to thank military families for their sacrifices.

Rosencrans served in the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard for ten years. He was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and later awarded 11 medals, including a Purple Heart.

Outstanding, I laid a wreath with Jim at the Luzerne County Courthouse when we came back from Afghanistan. Jim has seen a lot and is a warrior that we should be proud of.
God Bless you Jim and your family. Thank you for your outstanding service to our great country. It was an honor to serve with you.
