WILKES-BARRE -- Ground was broken on a $40 million expansion project at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Tuesday.
The plan calls for new intensive care, critical care, and cardiovascular intensive care units.
Other improvements include renovations to about 200 patient rooms, conversion of shared patient rooms to private rooms, and a new helipad.
The work is expected to be finished by the end of next year.
