WILKES-BARRE — A “Walk for Hope” was held in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Ruth’s Place Women’s Shelter sponsored the 9th annual homeless awareness fundraiser on Public Square.

Special markers along the route showed how the shelter in Wilkes-Barre has grown from a seasonal overnight program to a full-service facility.

A short rally before the walk included speakers who addressed the problems facing women experiencing homelessness.

After the walk, there was food, activities, and raffles.
