SCRANTON -- A Paralympic medalist in skiing participated in her first 5k race in Lackawanna County.
Athletes Caring Together, a local non-profit in Dunmore, held its second annual sports expo at the Ice Box in Scranton on Sunday.
In addition, the group sponsored a 5k race on the Lackawanna Heritage Trail.
Stephanie Jallen is a Paralympic skier from Kingston. She came out to support the organization and in the process completed her first 5k.
"It makes me feel like I can now make a difference if I'm supporting young kids to follow my footsteps," said Jellen.
The mission of Athletes Caring Together is to provide opportunities for children and to empower athletes to make a difference through the sports they love.
