Fall is officially here and on Thursday, Newswatch 16 tackled tips to get your ride ready for the cooler months to come. Newswatch 16’s Ryan Leckey visited Jack Williams Tire & Auto’s Kingston location for some suggestions from the pros. Jack Williams is also one of seven corporate sponsors of WNEP-TV’s Ryan’s Run 7.  The charity campaign helps kids and adults with disabilities served by Allied Services. One of their mechanics, Tim Ramagli of Forty Fort, is on our charity team this year and is running in honor of his three year old son Joey who has reached milestones

Here are some suggestions from the mechanics at Jack Williams Tire & Auto when it comes to sprucing up your car for Fall.

  1. Change your oil –  Follow your manufacturer’s recommendation on how often to change your oil and what oil to use. I always change mine with the seasons – so 4 times a year my oil is changed. Easy enough for me to remember.
  2. Check your tires – You don’t want to be stuck when those first snowflakes start to fall, and you are in need of tires.  Every tire shop will be packed with people looking to get their snow tires, so come in and let us check your tires now.
  3. Check your battery – Check your vehicle’s battery to make sure it’s in good shape. A surprise dead battery is never fun especially when the weather is starting to get colder. A simple checkup can save you the hassle of being stranded because of a dead battery.
  4. Check to make sure your heat is working, the defrosters work and your wiper blades are good. Nothing would be worse than going out and getting in the car, putting on the heat, but no heat turns on. Worse yet, when you need your defrosters and nothing happen. If you put on your wipers, they are smearing or streaking, making it difficult to see. These are not good!
